An extreme week of exploring the Outer and Inner Banks of North Carolina on a Trek bike

A 200 mile adventure that loops through the heart of the Inner and Outer Banks awaits you on a trip that will remain as the trip to compare all others too. Starting from Pamlico Sea Base nestled on Blount’s Bay, your unit will ride through the Historic Washington Waterfront and onto one of the Pamlico’s salty creeks. Camping on the water each night, your unit will travel through Historic Bath, home of Blackbeard and the oldest town in North Carolina. Then through the fishing village of Belhaven where we camp on the Pungo River and enjoy canoeing and kayaking.
By Wednesday we are on the ferry to Ocracoke Island where the unit will spend the night in the center of the village. On Ocracoke, a top rated world beach destination, you will have the opportunity to do a wide range of activities, sample fresh seafood, and relax on gorgeous beaches. Thursday has the unit driving through Cedar Island National Wildlife Refuge and toward the Cape Lookout National Seashore.
That afternoon you will ferry over for a chance to earn the BSA-NPS Ranger Award. Camping out on the Sound that night, you will embark on your last stretch of highway. Units will have to opportunity to choose their end point, or to go all the way and complete the loop. One Scouter claimed “this is the first time I took a week of vacation for Scouting and felt like I got a week of vacation, thank you!”.
